I trained in Rochdale on the (as known then) Rochdale VT. Became a GP Principal in 1996 at Peterloo Medical Centre and have been there ever since. I spent some time on the Bury and Rochdale LMC which included representation on Cervical Cytology Steering Group, Maternity Liaison service and Teenage Pregnancy Task Group. I have also had an interest in Sexual Health which initially started as a CMO post at the then Palatine Centre and ended in being a GPwSI.
I became a GP trainer in 2002, found I really enjoyed teaching and took on the role of RCGP NWE Faculty Course Director for Sexual Health. This then developed in to PCME for Pennine in 2008 and my newest role is Programme Director for the patch.
I have a fantastic Husband, Mike and a gorgeous (yes I am biased) daughter Georgia. We also have a mad-for-chocolate labrador puppy called Coco (better not forget the two rabbits too!). We all love the out of doors especially the Lake District and are keen skiers, be it on Lake Windermere or on the snow. We are currently all learning to Snowboard (Ouch!).
For some crazy reason I have also agreed to do the Great North Swim next year, which will be a real challenge for me as they have been unable to clear all the fish (esp. Pike) out of Lake Windermere (I will be the one swimming with socks on!).

I emigrated from London to attend Manchester Medical School in the mid 1980’s (yes, I know some of you may not even have been born then!). I worked in teaching & district general hospitals, but trained for General Practice at the Royal Oldham Hospital and in Rochdale at a practice that I’m still in!
As one of the Pennine Programme Directors, I help look after training practices in Rochdale, Heywood and Middleton. In addition, I help maintain, oversee & develop GPST on our patch with the other PD’s and educator team.
In my spare time, I run a taxi and ATM service for my kids. I try to enjoy (mild) off-road biking, dragging my teenagers onto a badminton court and agreeing with most things on the TV program “Grumpy Old Men”.
If you have any enquiries about GP training on our patch, please contact me or one of the other Educators.
